My biggest complaint with the Mac and Ham Radio is the lack of digital mode software that is on par with the quality of MLDX. I have not done a lot of contests with this application, but the few that I have done were supported out of the box by MLDX. The user interface is well thought out and intuitive to even the novice user. The integration with the radio is very good and the spotting features work as well as I could hope. It turns out this was well documented on the site, and I had just missed it. When I asked the author about my issue, he was polite and very helpful and got me squared away in no time. I had some problems with the CAT interface on my IC-7000 that caused MacLoggerDX to report 'Radio Disconnected'. I can't say it was love at first download. I really like my Mac though and downloaded a copy of MacLoggerDX. It was good, and I loved the integration with DM-780 for PSK-31 work. When I started back into Ham Radio in 2010, I was using HamRadio Deluxe for Windows.
This is the reason I use my Mac for ham radio I have tried the rest but I continue to use the best. The documentation is concise, the feature set is rich, the graphics are jaw dropping and the speed is sensational.

I know the software will work with future versions of Mac OS X including the soon to be released Mountain Lion and beyond. The author continuously updates the software while providing superior technical support and expertise via timely emails and the MacLoggerDX Yahoo Groups Forums. In 2006 I bought my first copy of MacLoggerDX. But I am always willing to invest in products that are well done like Apple Computers, the Elecraft K Line and Dog Park Software. I had looked at other logging solutions all along as I never had the time to create anything elegant. I rolled my own logging programs back in the day using the Filemaker data base app. It has been tested to and has passed the latest MIL-STD 810 G specifications including shock, vibration and temperature tests.I was first licensed in 1968. The IC-2300H is built tough to protect from a rough road. Tested to the MIL-STD 810 G specifications The pocket beep function gives you an audible and visual indicator of an incoming call. The tone scan function detects the sub-audible tone that is used for repeater access. The CTCSS and DTCS tones are built-in for quiet stand-by and repeater access. The channel name is programmable with 6 characters for easy recognition. The IC-2300H has a total of 207 memory channels, including 200 regular channels, 6 scan edges and 1 call channel. The backlight color of the display is selectable from amber, yellow and green for your visual enjoyment The IC-2300H has a 70.6×20 mm LCD display with 6 large alphanumeric characters offering a good viewing angle suitable for mobile operation. The bottom of the display indicates the available functions of the front panel buttons directly below the display. Current IC-2200H users will be comfortably familiar with the IC-2300H operation. The Icom IC-2300H retains the basic panel layout and its user interface from the IC-2200H. Output power is selectable in 4-steps (65/25/10/5W *). The rugged aluminum diecast chassis provides effective heat dissipation and keeps RF output even during high duty cycle continuous transmission. The Icom IC-2300H can generate 65W of output power.
